In one of my previous posts, I have talked about “6 Good Habits that can help us to live a Happier life” now in this post, I am going to go through 12 Habits of Happy People, basically how happy people live their happy life.
Happiness is probably one of the things most wanted in the world but, unfortunately, can remain a lifelong quest for some people simply because they give the wrong meaning to happiness and associate happiness to material things when instead happiness comes from within.
I personally believe that Happiness, as I have explained in “What is Happiness and How to Be Happy in 7 Steps”, is homemade and comes from within.
Here are the Habits of Happy People.
How do Happy People Live their life?
THEY…
# 1 Know that HAPPINESS is a CHOICE
Happy people know that happiness is a choice and a way of life and they have made the decision to be happy, no matter what.
According to two studies published in The Journal of Positive Psychology., just trying to be happy can boost our emotional well-being. Those who actively tried to feel happier in the studies reported the highest level of positive moods, making a case for thinking yourself happy.
# 2 Express GRATITUDE
Happy People are grateful and appreciate what they have.
They don’t take anything for granted and they make the most of what they have.
Happiness is a state of mind worthy of celebration, which should be manifested by appreciation and gratitude.
Happy people show appreciation and gratitude also to the people around. It goes beyond saying “thank you” to the people who make one happy, Expressing gratitude towards other people plays a big role in happiness.

They are not afraid to make mistakes because they believe they are not mistakes only feedback and also they know how to readjust things.
They turn mistakes into lessons.
Happy people see their problems as challenges and consider challenges as opportunities.
They don’t complain.
They accept what can not be changed.
# 5 Are MINDFUL
Happy people don’t rush all the time, consciously or unconsciously, they practice Mindfulness, they live the present, and utilize all their senses to be in the here and now.
They are aware what is going on inside and around them.
They are in charge of themselves and they are aware that Happiness is in the present moment.
They don’t live on an autopilot.
# 6 They also have their share of LOW MOMENTS
Happy people also have their share of low moments in life, they don’t have all happy days. They do not have it easy all the time but tend not to dwell on negative emotions.
Even if obstacles come their way, happy people know how to acknowledge their blessings and be thankful for them.
Even in the face of despair, happy people still find the strength to remain positive.
What differentiate them from miserable people, is their positivity and their gratitude. Although positivity will not give them definite and instant solutions to their problems, they know that doses of positivity will give them the energy and strength to overcome any kind of problem.
Even if there are low moments in life, it should not stop a person from expressing gratitude for the smallest blessings.
It is all about having a positive mindset.
# 7 Are CONTENT
Happy people know the meaning of contentment and know how to live by it. Contentment is being satisfied with whatever one has.
They know that they cannot have everything they want whenever they want it, but it does not mean that it should be a reason to complain and be miserable. If they want more, they work for it.
A person can still be content even in pursuit of an ambition. The important thing is not to take the existing blessings for granted.
# 8 Happy People LAUGH whenever they can
Laughter is always linked to happy people. Happy people have a sense of humor and know when to have a good laugh, even when they are facing a huge problem and not only at things that are intentionally funny.
Happy people know how to laugh at themselves when they need to.
They do not take life too seriously because embarrassing things happen every now and then. Dealing with problems is a lot easier with a little sense of humor.

Happy individuals do not waste time in doing things that bore them and stunt their growth and self-fulfillment. They heed the call of their passions in order to become the best individuals that they can be.
They get happiness in pursuing their passions because it enables them to be the best in their field.
# 10 SPREAD HAPPINESS
Happy People Smile and surround themselves with other happy and positive people. Happiness is infectious. Happy people know how to spread the happiness they feel, to the people they interact with, whether through a one-time encounter or regular basis.

Positivity should be exercised not only in situations concerning the self. Life is a lot easier when you focus on the good traits of other people too. It will be easier for people to be kinder to you if they see that you are willing to focus on their good side.
# 11 FORGIVE
Even happy people are vulnerable to hurt and pain inflicted by others. Mistakes are inevitable, even in human relationships. Nobody is perfect.
Happy people know this, but they do not let it ruin their lives. As hard as it may seem, happy people know, how to practice the art of forgiveness.
When they get hurt, they allow themselves an ample amount of time to heal and lick their own wounds.
But after that, they start opening themselves to the possibility of forgiving those that have hurt them.
Happy people know that when they are finally ready to forgive, they will set themselves and the people that have hurt them free from anguish and guilt.
Happy People let go of Grudges.
# 12 They get SPIRITUAL and or follow a RELIGION
Studies demonstrate a close link between religious and spiritual engagement (practice) and happiness.
A 2009 study (Spirituality Is Key To Kids’ Happiness) also found that children who felt their lives had a purpose (which was promoted by a spiritual connection) were happier.
Spirituality and prayer also provide people with an opportunity to engage in a meditative act.
Meditation has been shown to have a strong link with well-being because it calms the body, reduces stress and anxiety, and also supports positive thinking.
